100 punti James Suckling per Rancia Riserva 1990
An extraordinary recognition for one of Fèlsina’s historic vintages: Rancia Chianti Classico Riserva 1990 has been awarded 100 points by James Suckling.
More than thirty years after the harvest, the wine continues to display remarkable youthfulness, freshness, balance and complexity, complemented by a long, persistent finish. A testament to the ability of a great Sangiovese to stand the test of time while preserving its identity intact.
The tasting took place on the occasion of Fèlsina’s 60th anniversary and the 40th anniversary of Rancia, in the presence of Senior Editor Aldo Fiordelli. Already a benchmark in the 1990s, when Tuscany was undergoing a profound period of winemaking renewal, Rancia continues to stand out today for its longevity, consistency and ever-greater stylistic precision.
This achievement has its roots in the work of key figures in Tuscan wine such as Giuseppe Mazzocolin and consulting oenologist Franco Bernabei. Together with the vision of founder Domenico Poggiali, they laid the foundations for the estate’s success, a legacy that continues today under the leadership of Giovanni Poggiali.
