Then there are the geographical and spiritual coordinates of Fèlsina: 500 hectares of peace and tranquility, shaped by nature and history, and dedicated since time immemorial to viticulture and olive cultivation. It is a unique microcosm of territorial, spiritual, and cultural biodiversity, where differences coexist responsibly, mutually enriching one another.
Lands of Sangiovese.
Fèlsina is a place of exceptional heterogeneity—in its landscapes, soils, and microclimates. Each vineyard parcel expresses its own complex identity, an identity that comes to life a new in every bottle of Sangiovese, each distinct from all others. Each cru highlights, in its own way, the unique characteristics of this extraordinary grape variety, while respecting the individual potential of every farmstead, every parcel, and every vineyard. From Sangioveto to Sangiovese: this is the very soul of our viticulture.
Frontier lands.
Stretching from the final spurs of the Chianti mountains to the head of the Ombrone Valley, the geology of Fèlsina shifts with every hill. On one side, we find soils of calcareous origin, rich in rock fragments, with alberese limestone and rocky outcrops breaking the surface. These are well-drained soils, but challenging to work and demanding on the vines. On the other side, one encounters soils of marine and alluvial origin—linked to Pliocene-era sediments—which tend to be more clay-rich or sandy, offering different water-retention capabilities and a more vigorous growth response. Our 72 hectares of dedicated vineyards embrace and interpret every facet of this diversity, transforming each variation into a precious resource—both agricultural and cultural.
