I SISTRI Private Collection

Felsina began in the 1980s with plantings of Chardonnay from French clones and has been among the first wineries in Tuscany to experiment with this variety. I Sistri Collezione Privata is the culmination of such research through vineyard selection and tailored micro-vinfications enhancing the characteristics of this grape variety and the Fèlsina terroir.

General Characteristics

Denomination: Indicazione Geografica Tipica Toscana.
Varietal: 100% Chardonnay.
Growing area: The history of Chardonnay at Fèlsina began with the grafting of French clones at the nearby Tenuta di Farnetella and continued with new plantings established during the first decade of the 2000s at Fèlsina’s Poggiolo estate.
Vineyard density: About 5.400 vines per hectare.
Training system: Simple Guyot with 8–12 buds.
Harvest: Hand-picked into small casks.

Soft pressing of the grapes yields approximately 60% free-run must, which is cold-settled. After 24 hours, the must is transferred to 225-litre French oak barriques, where fermentation takes place. Bâtonnage is carried out daily at first, then weekly until March–April, while the wine matures in contact with the fine lees. After 20 months in barriques, predominantly first-use, the wine is racked and blended, followed by at least 3 months of bottle ageing.

Deep yellow in colour with golden highlights. The nose is intense and complex, with distinctive notes of white fruit, banana, candied citron and hazelnut, complemented by pleasant mineral and spicy nuances seamlessly integrated with hints of vanilla.
Rich and concentrated on the palate, with a fresh, elegant finish and a beautifully balanced combination of creaminess and savoury character.
