Innovation and Sustainability: Fèlsina Joins the VITESAT Project

Sustainability is a journey built on research, observation and continuous improvement. It is with this spirit that Fèlsina is taking part in VITESAT, a project bringing together wineries, researchers and consultants from the Chianti Classico area to develop digital tools and precision farming techniques in support of increasingly sustainable viticulture.

The main objective is to adopt increasingly effective practices for managing resources, combining technological innovation with agronomic expertise.

For Fèlsina, this project represents a further step along a path that began many years ago. Protecting the estate’s natural balance has been part of the company’s vision since the 1960s and has gradually taken concrete form through the organic management of its vineyards, certified by ICEA since 2015, alongside biodynamic experimentation, the enhancement of biodiversity and an agricultural approach focused on respecting the ecosystem as a whole.

In recent years, this commitment has also led to significant research projects such as B-WINE, dedicated to studying the use of biochar to improve soil fertility and increase the vineyards’ capacity to retain carbon and water, as well as investments in energy efficiency, including a photovoltaic system that now covers approximately one quarter of the winery’s electricity needs.

Further recognition of this journey came with Fèlsina’s VIVA Sustainable Wine certification, part of the programme promoted by the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, which assesses the sustainability of the wine supply chain through scientific indicators relating to air, water, vineyards and territory.

The focus remains firmly on the future. Alongside its participation in VITESAT, the estate continues its commitment to reducing its environmental impact, with the progressive introduction of lighter bottles and new investments in research, innovation and the protection of the territory.

For Fèlsina, sustainability means safeguarding the landscape and its resources, ensuring that every choice made today contributes to preserving the quality of its wines and its territory for future generations.
